|Fairies, angels and the human figure permeate the fantastical, sometimes whimsical watercolors of Alayne Abrahams. |
Trained in art since childhood, Alayne went on to earn a Certificate of Fine Arts degree from the Maryland Institute of College of Art in Baltimore, MD, and a B.S. degree from the University of Maryland.
Inspired by the sculpted faces of the Italian Renaissance artists, particularly Botticelli, Alayne draws upon nature and a natural inclination to express the internal, meditative and reflective part of th ehuman psyche - that part which seeks spirituality and LIGHT. This free-spirited work taps into the child within, where the imagination is free to let go, unbound by the constraints of what our eyes and rational brains perceive, and allowing limitless possibilities including the ability to believe in fairies, and angels with rainbow wings!
"I don't believe in the intellectualization of what 'ART' is supposed to mean," explains Ms. Abrahams. "If my paintings speak their own private message or radiate positive energy, that is more than satisfying."
The paintings of Alayne Abrahams have been exhibited in Maryland, Washington D.C., the Bliss House in Charlottesville, VA, the Chalk Farm Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Angel Alley Gallery in New Hope, PA, and hang in numerous private collections.
