|Richard "Dick" Perko, a native Coloradan, attended Pueblo Junior College and lives in Pueblo, Colorado. Born in 1933, only within the last several years has he begun to share his visions of natural beauty. |
A primarily self-taught artist, Dick has studied under such well-known plein air Taos artist as Don Bracket, P.J. Garoute and Kevin McPherson.
Although ralism is still displayed in some of his works, impressionism is his current prefrence to bring viewers imagination into the canvas.
Among other artists whom have had a lasting impression on Dick are two members of the "Taos Six" Ray Vinella and Walt Gonske. Spending hours on a single rock, hollyhock or a Colorado Columbine typifies his overwhelming desire to satisfy himself as well as the viewer.
Mr. Perko has been privilaged to recieve several awards, among them his acceptance as the Colorado State Fair Fine Art Exhibit numberous times; the Colorado Springs National Juried Art Show; Souther Colorado Invitational and "My Favoriet Place", a national juried show hosted by the Sangre De Cristo Fine Art Center.
Mr.Perko's work has been displayed at The Royal Gorge, located in Cayon City, Colorado; Taos, New Mexico, and currently at Passions Art Gallery in Pueblo, Colorado and The Old Gallery in Old Colorado City, Colorado.
