|Basically self-taught, Jackie started out dabbling in watercolors, oils and acrylics when she was in high school. Later on, photography, combined with computer technology, became her main interest. |
"I enjoy taking photos of natural things and turning them into abstract images using the computer as a tool. Some of my images look as if they were seen through a kaleidoscope---they are mages from nature formed into photo "collages" which produce unusual patterns. The number of images is endless using this method. If I never left my back yard, the number of possible images would be infinite simply because of my "point of view".
Some of Jackie's photographs are traditional and are enhanced on the computer to look like watercolors or oil paintings. They do not fall into the category of fine art, as they are digitally changed by the computer to imitate a hand done creation. However, they are beautiful in their own right and are sold as "digitally mastered" photographs, costing the customer much less than an original painting.
Jackie attended Emmanuel College in Boston and later studied Visual Design at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. She owns her own custom framing shop in Dartmouth, MA called THE FRAMEMAKER, where she displays her art. See her website at www.theframemaker.org.
