|Mr. Augustine Romero was born and raised in 1963 in Pueblo, Colorado and now lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Mr. Romero's parents were from New Mexico. Mr. Romero ancestry includes American Indian, Spanish & Mexican origins. |
Mr. Romero studied art at the University of Southern Colorado where he earned a B.A. in Graphic Design. In 1997 Mr. Romero completed an M.A. in Sculpture at New York University.
Mr. Romero’s work includes three outdoor pieces. In 1996 Mr. Romero completed an outdoor sculpture honoring the late Civil Rights activist Cesar Chavez. The piece was funded through donations and is located at El Centro De Quinto Sol in Pueblo, Colorado.
The Slain Priest Memorial was completed in 1999 thorough donations from St. Leanders Church in Pueblo, Colorado. It honors two Catholic priests that were slain in 1995.
During the Spring of 2000, Mr. Romero received a fellowship at The Socrates Sculpture Park in Astoria, Queens, New York. This sculpture is also an outdoor piece entitled "Zapata," after Emiliano Zapata the famed Mexican Revolutionary.
