Example : If we want to print a giclée 8 x 10 inches, we need to create a file with a pixel dimension of 1600 pixels by 2000 pixels. (8 inches x 200 pixels/inch x 10 inches x 200 pixels/inch) The total number of pixels is 1600 x 2000 = 3,200,000. Now, since each pixel contains one byte of information for each channel of Red, Green and Blue for primary colors, the uncompressed TIF file size is 3,200,000 pixels x 3 bytes/pixel = 9.2 MB. Note that 1 MB = 1024*1024 bytes or 1,048,576 bytes.
Output Size | @200 ppi | @300 ppi 11"x14" 17 MB 38 MB 16"x20" 36 MB 80 MB 28"x20" 64 MB 144 MB 32"x44" 160 MB 360 MB
